I bought mine at a local health food store where it had been hanging on display hooks for a few weeks. So while it did get some airing,I'd still have to say this is made of one of the least smelly plastics I've come across with the word "vinyl" in the description. Tote is lightweight and seems to have woven strips in it for strength. Handles are good and strong. Colors are very bright. Down side - I wish the bottom of it was a bit stiffer. And it doesn't exactly go with everything in a girl's wardrobe, but its so much fun who cares.
